HDTV Review - What is HDTV?
Simply stated, HDTV is just better TV which provides a lot more fun.
HDTV stands for High Definition TV. This indicates that the picture is better defined or has more information in it which makes for a much sharper, more realistic picture and a better sound. Much adjectives and bloomy language has been attempted to describe the difference between the normal analog, low resolution TV picture we all are used to and the new HD picture. Crisp, crystal clear, like you were right within the scene etc. are common verbiage but that’s all a stale substitute to actually seeing the difference with one’s own eyes.
You may have heard that the FCC (the Federal Communications Commission) plans to make a nationwide complete shift from analog to digital TV until the end of 2006. This would mean that still about 80% of all TV sets which can only receive analog signals would stay black then unless one purchases a converter box to “translate” the digital signals in analog ones.
