Satellite HDTV
Receiving HDTV signals via satellite is the best choice for people living in more remote and rural areas of the US – and in some areas even might be the only chance as there are some out of reach of any cable providers or OTA broadcasters
This market is divided up in 2 big networks, Direct-TV and Dish Network. Direct TV offers the following programming:
The East- and West coast feeds of NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox, ESPN, HDNet, TNT, Universal and Discovery. And for separate subscribers HBO, Fox Sports, special NBA and NFL coverage, Showtime and HD PPV services are available, too.
Dish Network offers basically the same and in addition some VOOM HD channels like Family Room, Gallery, Kung Fu, Monsters, World Cinema, WorldSport etc. were integrated recently.
Both companies are continuously expanding their service capacities by launching additional satellites. Direct TV has 2 launches for 2007 on it’s schedule while Dish Network took over a VOOM satellite and sent another to space in February 2006.
